So, initially, finding a job in the land of the maple leaf goes through an information phase. This involves in particular:
· Searching for the exact title of your profession (physiotherapist instead of physiotherapist, technician instead of technologist, etc.)
· Identifying available offers and verifying eligibility for them
· Understanding the regulations in force
To be sure to obtain reliable information, it is best to turn to certified sources. This is the case, for example, of the official website of the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada), approved job sites as well as recruitment agencies recognized by the Canadian federal government.
Finally, to make tasks easier, the ideal is to target professions of tension and those in shortage. There are indeed certain sectors which recruit more heavily than others. The fields of health, personal assistance, catering and hospitality, retail, accommodation and manufacturing are also part of this.

Canadian authorities offer several categories of work permits to immigrants who wish to settle at home. The nature of the document issued will actually depend on the applicant's situation as well as the type of job requested. With this in mind, we find:
· The closed work permit
· Open work permit

The closed work permit
The closed work permit, also known as a work permit linked to a given employer, is the document most commonly issued to foreign immigrants by the Canadian federal government. To be eligible, candidates must obtain a promise of employment from a local company.
As its name suggests, the closed work permit restricts its holder to work only for the employer indicated on it. The duration of the contract as well as the place of work will also be mentioned.
Open work permit
The open work permit, unlike its counterpart, allows its beneficiary to work for any company located on Canadian soil. This document is issued only in specific situations and is only accessible to a small minority of immigrants.
It is also important to note that not all Canadian employers are eligible to grant an open work permit. This is the case for those who are included in the list of employers deemed non-compliant. Likewise, companies that regularly offer nude or erotic dancing activities, escort services or massages with erotic connotations are not admitted either.
Vacation/work permit
The PVT, or vacation/work permit, is a document that allows its holder to work during their vacation in Canada. It is categorized as an open work permit and can only be obtained under certain conditions. To obtain it, the foreign candidate must be admitted to the International Experience Canada (IEC) program.
The vacation/work permit is undoubtedly the most flexible work permit in Canada. It offers its beneficiary the opportunity to work or travel during its validity period. However, obtaining it is also the most difficult, because it is done by drawing lots.
The Young Professional license
The Youth Permit (JP) is a Canadian work permit intended for young people aged 18 to 35 who wish to enrich their professional career abroad. Currently, it is issued only to nationals of 37 countries, including France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland.
The conditions for obtaining the JP work permit as well as its validity period vary depending on the agreement signed between the applicant's country of origin and the Canadian authorities. However, in all cases, the latter will not exceed 24 months (2 years).
Who is eligible to obtain a work permit?
As mentioned above, obtaining a Canadian work permit is governed by certain criteria and rules. Only people who respond are able to obtain this coveted sesame. Therefore, to be eligible to obtain a Canadian work permit, the applicant must:

· Have proof that he has the financial means necessary to meet his needs and to return to his country of origin when the time comes
· Be respectful of Canadian laws and have a clean criminal record
· Demonstrate that it presents no danger to the security of Canada
· Have undergone a medical examination stating that he or she is in good health

What are the administrative procedures to follow to work legally in Canada?
Each type of permit has its own procedure for obtaining. Likewise, the file processing time may also vary depending on the situation (position requested, province, etc.).
For a closed work permit
The procedure for applying for a closed work permit generally takes place in 3 steps. Firstly, the candidate will have to submit to an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) provided by their employer. If his results are favorable, he will be able to move on to the second stage and begin the process of requesting a Certificate of Acceptance in Quebec (CAQ).
Finally, with their CAQ, the interested party can submit their work permit application to the IRCC. The entire process for obtaining a closed work permit will take approximately 8 months.
For an open work permit
The open work permit is most often issued to the spouse or dependent child of a foreign worker who is temporarily staying in Canada. To benefit from it, the interested party will have to submit a permit application identical to that of the main applicant. The validity period of the travel document must also not exceed that of the latter.
For a vacation/work permit and a Young Professional permit
To qualify for a PVT or a JP, the candidate must create an EIC profile online and join a pool. To do this, his profile will be examined beforehand by the Canadian authorities to determine whether he is eligible or not. If they meet all the criteria, the applicant will have to wait to receive an invitation. As soon as he accepts it, he will be given a letter of introduction which will allow him to obtain his work permit once he arrives on Canadian territory.
