Pour this mixture over the sweet potato pieces. Flip the pieces over so they are completely coated. Cover the top of the dish with aluminum foil. Then bake for 15 minutes. Remove the dish from the oven, remove the foil and toss in the sweet potato pieces. Cover again and return to cook for 45 to 50 minutes or until the pieces are tender and begin to colour. Our tips for making this recipe
Is this your first time buying and cooking sweet potatoes? Choose soft-skinned ones with no stitches, bruises, and other highly visible blemishes. Note that there are several types of sweet potato. Varieties with very orange flesh are generally denser and sweeter than those with yellow flesh. White-fleshed sweet potatoes are the least sweet of all. So choose your sweet potato according to your preferences. There are also varieties with purple flesh, especially in Japan and the rest of Asia. Very sweet, they are usually used for desserts. Note that the skin of sweet potatoes can be eaten. If you want to eat them like this, take care to clean them well before cutting them into pieces.
