The Poutine House

The brand has three poutineries in France. There are two in Paris and another in Toulouse. The latter is known to be the Mecca of street-food in France.

The adventure of this renowned establishment began when its chef (Erwan Caradec) tasted poutine in Canada. He loves this Quebec specialty and decides to work on his recipes when he returns to France.

The first establishment opened its doors in 2017 and the brand won the “Best Poutine in the International category” award two years in a row during the editions of “Montreal Poutine Week” in 2019 and 2022.

La Maison de la Poutine - as its name suggests - specializes in the preparation of this Canadian dish. It serves the original version and variants that are not lacking in originality. As a reminder, it is a generous portion of fries, served with a brown sauce and typical Canadian cheese curds.

The establishment offers other versions of poutine. We find for example “La Bûcheronne” with its bacon and onions or “La Coquette” and its minced chicken. Also find “la Trappeur” and its pork cooked in maple syrup with its popcorn.

The House also offers a vegetarian sauce with the Boréale. This version of poutine is served with cranberries.

La Maison de la Poutine makes its own cheese curds in its dairy. It provides on-demand delivery service.

The restaurant is nestled in a theme park around Canada, which also doubles as an animal park. As its name suggests, “Rêve de Bisons” mainly offers dishes based on bison meat. This meat is served and prepared on site, following Canadian recipes and techniques.

As you will have understood, the à la carte dishes mainly contain bison. As a starter, the establishment offers rillettes or bison terrine. On the fast food side, you can order a poutine with bison and bacon or even a bison hamburger. Lovers of carnivorous dishes can treat themselves to a nice bison rib steak. Children are not left out. The ground beef and the baby hamburger offer them their first taste experience of bison meat. Finish the family meal with a nice cup of three or five scoop ice cream. And why not let yourself be tempted by a Canadian dessert like the Royal Chocolate Pecan or the Nougat Caramel Cheesecake?

Rêve de Bisons is located in the Priory of Bois de la Belle in Muchedent, in Seine-Maritime. To get there by road, take the A28 from or the D49 from Dieppe.

A second establishment of the same name will open in Pontoise at the beginning of 2022.

Of course, it serves Poutine, but also other snacks such as hot dogs and hamburgers. The restaurants are run by the Gauteur siblings, three brothers who have been steeped in Canadian culture for a long time.

They naturally wanted to promote Canadian dishes and gastronomy in France. Working as a chef in Canada, their father sent them a chef who will train them on the country's cuisine.

Here again, the poutine remains the star of the menu. You can savor La Poutine Classique or the famous “Crevettine” with its shrimps and small white sauce. The latter is prepared with fish stock.

Cheese lovers will delight in camembec with its cheese curds, camembert and maple syrup.

As for burgers, don't miss their smoked meats prepared with good smoked beef.
